staff sampleSenior Pastor Dale Brooks grew up in a Christian home in Guilford County, North Carolina, the second of four children, and received Christ at 8 years of age. He felt God’s call to the ministry and began to preach in area churches when he was 17. He has served in the pastorate for nearly 40 years, with 28 of those at Grove Park Chapel, where he has ministered since 1990. He came to Grove Park, having served churches in North Carolina and Indiana. He earned a Bachelor of Theology degree at Piedmont International University in Winston-Salem and a Master of Theology degree at Grace Theological Seminary in Winona Lake, Indiana. In addition, he has completed all the class work toward a Doctor of Ministry degree at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest. He lives in Durham and has been happily married to Karen for 38 years. They are the proud parents of three grown children, Melody, Courtney, and Travis, and daughter-in-law, Christina. They are also now the proud grandparents of their one-year-old granddaughter, Elliot Rose Brooks. They are also the sometimes proud owners of 3 cats named Evie, Martin & Shelby and a maltipoo named Princess Leia. Dale’s ministry for his Lord centers on prayer and biblical expository preaching and teaching, and he is currently leading the congregation on a journey chapter-by-chapter through the entire Bible. He is also heavily involved in all the other responsibilities of the pastoral ministry and serves on the elder board of the church. He has served as a clinic teacher/trainer with Evangelism Explosion. He loves studying and teaching the Bible, and also enjoys sports, hunting, fishing, gardening, reading, and spending time with his family. He is an avid Tar Heel fan.

staff sampleCourtney Brooks is our church secretary as well as our current children's ministry director interim. She was born and raised in Durham, North Carolina where she still resides. She came to receive Christ as her Savior at the very young age of 5 and was assured of her salvation & baptised at age 8. She has attended Grove Park Chapel for 28 years and has served in many ministries such as AWANA, Children's Church, Vacation Bible School, Nursery, Adult Choir, Ladies' Committee & more. She has also been a teacher in our preschool's 2 year old class for 11 years. Courtney enjoys playing with computers, crafts and painting, and working with young children & infants.
staff sample Tonya Dobson is our preschool director. Tonya grew up attending Hillcrest Baptist Church in Hillsborough, NC. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at the age 10 and was baptized shortly after. My husband and I currently attend Bethesda Baptist Church where we have been members for 11 years. Tonya is the Awana Cubbies Director, serves on the Tech-Media Team on Sunday mornings and teaches in the Children’s Sunday Morning ministry. Tonya enjoys spending time with her family and working with children of all ages.

Children's Ministry Director: Grove Park Chapel, 605 Sherron Road, Durham, NC, a non-denominational evangelical church, is in need of a part-time children’s ministry director to head up and build up the children’s ministry, including teaching children’s church each Sunday morning. The current children's programs involve a highly attended AWANA and VBS ministry as well as a number of outreach programs. These programs will be under the leadership of the children's ministry director. Applicant must be a strong believer with a clear testimony and godly lifestyle; should have a passion and gift to minister to children, and be creative. They need to be actively involved in all church activities. Position is open immediately.

 

Music/Worship Leader: Grove Park Chapel, 605 Sherron Road, Durham, NC, a non-denominational, evangelical church, is in need of a part-time worship leader. Applicant should have a good singing voice, be able to play the guitar, and have experience in leading congregational singing, with a blend of contemporary and traditional Christian music. Must be a strong believer with a clear testimony and godly lifestyle. Will need to coordinate with the pastor in planning the music each week, import the lyrics into MediaShout, lead a practice each week with accompanists (piano and organ), and lead worship on Sunday mornings.
